Configuration Application
POSMonitor Configuration Application.
Minimal configuration is required to run POSmonitor. A configuration application is run during installation. It can be run at any time from the “Start Menu” Start->POSmonitor->POSmonitor Configuration.
The “FreePOS Directory”, “FreePOS Version” and “Port” must be set properly.
“Labor”, “Variable” and “Fixed” are used for calculation Profit/Loss. These are approximations only.
The “Tables(x)” are to provide convenient naming to areas associated with the system.
FreePOS Directory:
This should be either “C:\Sys\FreePOS” or “C:\FreePOS”. Set according to your configuration.
FreePOS Version:
Choose “6” for version 6 or later. Choose “5” for earlier versions.
Port:
If you are not already running a web server, the default value of 80 will be fine in most cases.
If you need to change it, set this value to some other value. The recommended range is from 8080-8090. To view from a browser when an alternate port is used, enter your web address into your browser ending with a colon and the port number ex. http://yourwebaddress.com:8080.
Labor:
This is a multiplier for labor costs. This includes all local and federal taxes associated with payroll for your area such as Employers portion of Social Security and Medicare, Federal and Local Unemployment taxes. These figures can be calculated from a previous payroll.
Fixed:
This is the monthly fixed expenses such as rent, salaries, insurance etc.
Variable:
This will be an estimate of what percentage of your sales do you pay for all non-fixed expenses, excluding labor(labor is separate because it is calculated in the system in real time) such as utilities, food costs, services etc.
Tables(x):
Here is where you can give your areas a meaningful name. FreePOS comes with up to 6 areas with generic designation of (tables/floors, tables2/floors2 etc.). Name the as you wish for monitoring. Note: Bar, Carryout, Labor and Reports have a fixed designation.
URL:
This is optional and should be set if you wish to use a ticker to monitor as an RSS feed. Set this to the domain you will be monitoring, ex. http://www.myrestaurant.com(see Additional Configuration section for more information about domains). If not using a ticker, there is no need to worry about this option.
The POSmonitor Service must be restarted for changes in configuration to take effect except changes during the installation process.
